John Lennon Tribute and MN Beatle Project Release Party at First Ave

The 34th Annual John Lennon Tribute and MN Beatle Project Volume 5 release party will take place at First Ave at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Volume 5 is the final installment of the project, which features Minnesota artists singing covers of Beatles songs. It will be available in CD, digital and vinyl formats.

All proceeds will be donated to Minnesota music education.

1,300 People without Power Overnight After Cold Snaps Power Line

The cold temperatures snapped a power line in Brooklyn park at 1:15 a.m. Sunday morning, leaving 1,300 people without power and heat, according to Xcel Energy.

The line fell onto train tracks near 52nd Avenue and Douglas Drive. Hennepin County removed the line.

Power was restored around 4 a.m. Most people had power and heat back within three hours.

Man Who Went Over Guardrail on Hwy 169 Identified

The Shakopee man who lost control of his vehicle and drive over the guardrail of the Bloomington Ferry Bridge Friday has been identified.

Steven Whiting was the driver of the one-car accident. Whiting was traveling south on highway 169 and went over the guardrail of the Bloomington Ferry Bridge.

Winter Skate, Holidazzle Still Open Despite Cold

If you're still feeling brave for some outdoor activity this weekend St. Paul's winter skating rink is now open.

The Wells Fargo Winter Skate opened last weekend.

The free, outdoor urban rink is open with limited hours through February at landmark plaza.

Despite cold temps, the Holidazzle Parade is on.

Minneapolis City Council Creates Committee, Ordinance to Combat Sex Trafficking

The Minneapolis City Council took steps to combat sex trafficking in the city on Friday.

They passed a resolution to establish the Minneapolis Coordinating Committee to prevent juvenile sex trafficking.

The committee will work to set goals to develop measures to track the city's progress to fight sex trafficking.

Eden Prairie Man Charged with 3 Counts of Criminal Vehicular Homicide for Crash that Killed Friend

An Eden Prairie man was charged with three counts of criminal vehicular homicide Friday for a crash what killed his passenger in August, according to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.

Randoll Guy Sloan, 46, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with an alcohol concentration of greater than .08, and driving in a grossly negligent manner.

1 Dead After Car Goes Over Guardrail on Highway 169

One person died Friday after a car went over a guardrail on the Bloomington Ferry Bridge and landed on its roof, according to police.

The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle, a 2003 Buick LeSabre, on the icy blacktop of highway 169 near mile post 117 and ran off the road, police said.

The LeSabre was the only car involved.
