Reports Indicate American Jihadi Killed in Somalia

An American who became one of Somalia's most visible Islamic rebels and was on the FBI's Most Wanted Terrorist list was killed Thursday by rivals in the extremist group al-Shabab, militants said.

Metro Volunteers to Camp Out for Disaster Victims

Metro volunteers will be helping survivors in Syria, tornado victims in Oklahoma and disaster victims worldwide at a ShelterBox USA fundraiser this month.

The Rotary District 5950, which represents western, central Minnesota and Minneapolis, is partnering with ShelterBox USA and Camp Fire Minnesota for the fundraiser Sept. 28-29.

Morning Power Outage Affects 12,500 in the Metro

A power outage Thursday morning affected about 12,500 customers across the Twin Cities metro area.

Xcel Energy has reported that 12,000 of those customers had power restored by 12:12 p.m., following the outage that started at 11:10 a.m. The outage affected areas in Blaine, Columbia Heights, Coon Rapids, Fridley, Mounds View, New Brighton and Spring Lake Park.

Teen Accused of Shooting Mpls Baby: 'Accidents do Happen'

A 17-year-old man accused of shooting an infant last week in North Minneapolis has been charged with felony reckless discharge of a firearm.

James Devone Early of Minneapolis appeared Wednesday in Hennepin County Juvenile Court on the charge. Prosecutors are asking that Early be charged as an adult.

A St. Paul man accused of killing a man and injuring another while fleeing from police earlier this week has been charged in the incident.

Yia Her, also known as Lia Her, 34, was charged Wednesday in Hennepin County District Court with two counts of felony fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle with injury or death.
