Winter Parking Restrictions in Effect in Minneapolis

The recent snowfall has led the City of Minneapolis to enact winter parking restrictions.

Winter parking restrictions were put in place because Minneapolis has had so much snow that streets have narrowed, according to the city.

Light Rail Drivers Begin Practice Runs on Green Line

We're another step closer to having a light rail link between Minneapolis and St. Paul.

The Green Line won't be open for another three-and-a-half months, but Monday trains started making regular runs so drivers could get some practice on the new line.

Obama to Take 'Year of Action' to St. Paul

President Barack Obama is taking his "year of action" tour to Minnesota, heading to St. Paul on Wednesday to announce a new competition encouraging investments to create jobs and restore infrastructure.
    
Obama will be speaking at St. Paul's newly-renovated Union Depot transportation hub. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Teacher of the Year Candidate Field Narrowed to 33 Semifinalists

Thirty-three teachers are still in the running to be named the Minnesota Teacher of the Year.

A selection panel of 25 community leaders will meet in March to narrow the field to 10 finalists, and the winner will be announced during a banquet on May 4.

Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation say they are pleased with how the interstates are looking three days after a major storm dumped about 8 inches of snow across the Twin Cities metro.
