Some Kids Head Back to School Monday

It's back-to-school time for some kids on Monday, a week before the rest of the state.

Minnesota state law mandates that schools start after Labor Day, the first Monday in September. However, if the district gets a waiver from the Department of Education, kids can start early.

This year, that includes nearly 50 of Minnesota’s 339 school districts.

Hennepin County to Host Job Fair at Mpls. Library

An event aimed at pairing employers with workers will be held next Monday in Minneapolis.

The Hennepin County Work and Economic Resource Center will sponsor a career fair Monday, Aug. 25, at Minneapolis Central Library on Nicollet Mall from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The job fair is part of a series of events looking at connecting workers to those looking to hire.

Death of Minneapolis Man Shot Nearly 7 Years Ago Ruled Homicide

A Minneapolis man who was shot nearly seven years ago has died, and authorities have ruled it was a homicide.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office says 50-year-old Lionel Miles died Wednesday at Assisted Living at Lyndale Manor in north Minneapolis.

Third Street Flyover Ramp in Minneapolis Closing Aug. 25

The Third Street flyover ramp from northbound Interstate 35W in Minneapolis will be closed from Aug. 25 to Sept. 15. 

The road will be closed during the reconstruction of Fourth Street South, which includes the addition of turn lanes for a new northbound I-35W entrance ramp.

Motorists will be detoured to westbound Washington Avenue and southbound Chicago Avenue.
