Authorities Arrest Brooklyn Center Standoff Suspect without Incident

Hennepin County authorities say they have arrested the suspect in a Brooklyn Center standoff without incident. Daniel Vernier, 32, was arrested around 4:30 p.m. about four hours after the standoff started.

MnDOT Breaks Ground on Highway 610 Extension in Maple Grove

The Minnesota Department of Transportation broke ground on a multi-million dollar highway extension project in Maple Grove Thursday.

2 Injured in Shooting at Minneapolis Bar

A customer who was kicked out of a Minneapolis bar Wednesday night returned with a gun and fired several shots, police say.

Police say the shooting happened at 19 Bar on the 100 block of West 15th Street in Minneapolis. The suspect allegedly fired at the entrance of the bar, hitting and injuring two people inside.

Minneapolis Looking to Redesign Old Nicollet Mall Site

Minneapolis officials are seeking proposals to remake a downtown block that has served as little more than a parking lot for decades.

The section north of the Central Library along Nicollet Mall was once home to the Nicollet Hotel, which towered over the city's now-razed Gateway District.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will be in Minneapolis on Thursday night for a town hall discussion.

Albright will be speaking about Women in Public Life as part of a Humphrey School of Public Affairs event. She will detail her experiences as the first female Secretary of State as well as the role women play in public policy.

Minor Damage to Mpls. Home Reported after Deck Fire

Residents are being allowed to return to a home after a deck fire overnight.

The fire happened around 2:30 a.m. Thursday at a home on the 2600 block of Third Avenue South in Minneapolis.

Crews say the deck on the second floor of the home was on fire, and the fire spread to the third floor. Very minor damage was reported.
