Local 'High 5 Day' Effort Supports Boy with Cancer, Breaks World Record

Thursday is "National High Five Day" and a local artist went for a world record in support of a Minnesota boy fighting cancer.

Artist Andrew MacGuffie helped surpass the record to raise money for 12-year-old Evan Thornton, who is dealing with a life-threatening form of bone cancer.

Woman Sentenced for Mailing Threatening Letters to Metro Post Offices<br />

A federal judge has sentenced a woman to 5 1/2 years in prison for mailing letters threatening to bomb seven post offices in the Twin Cities.
    
U.S. District Judge Susan Nelson on Thursday sentenced 43-year-old Christina Anne Reineke on one count of mailing threatening communications.
    

Demolition of the Metrodome Complete Weeks Ahead of Schedule

It's gone. As of Thursday, the Metrodome is no more.

Truckload number 4,910 was hauled away from the site to a recycling plant in Little Canada carrying the last of the Dome's debris.

Demolition contractor Frattalone Companies reports the project was completed in just over nine weeks, which is four weeks ahead of schedule.  They company logged 15,800 hours.

Minn. Couple Accused of Collecting Welfare While Yachting Appears in Court

The Minnesota couple arrested last month near Fort Lauderdale after allegedly collecting welfare while living on a yacht made their first court appearance Thursday.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman calls them "Lord and Lady Chisholm." Colin Chisholm III, 62, and his wife Andrea, 54, of Deephaven, are charged with felony welfare fraud.

Police Investigate after Armed Robbery at Richfield Restaurant

Police are investigating after two armed men robbed an Old Country Buffet in Richfield on Thursday.

According to Richfield Police, the men went into the restaurant on East 66th Street and held up several employees at gunpoint. The men took money from the safe.
