Heavy snow has stranded many motorists on a western New York highway. Some tips on what to do if you find yourself stuck in the snow:

- Pull off the highway and make yourself visible to rescuers. Turn on hazard lights and tie a bright cloth to your antenna or door handle.

Police: Argument Led to Double Shooting in Brooklyn Center

An argument is believed to have sparked a double shooting Tuesday afternoon in a parking lot of a commercial area in Brooklyn Center.

Police were called to a parking lot near a SuperAmerica gas station and Checkers Drive In on 66th Avenue North near Highway 252 around 1 p.m.

The man who was found dead after a report of shots fired in North Minneapolis on Sunday night has been identified.

According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, 23-year-old James Cole of Minneapolis died from a gunshot wound to the head.

A Minneapolis-based humanitarian organization is preparing to send a team of medical responders to Liberia to help fight Ebola.
    
The group of 11 health care workers includes five Liberian-Americans. They leave Thursday for Liberia, a West African nation hit hard by the outbreak of the deadly virus.

Death of Young Woman Prompts Change to Construction Zone in Rogers

The death of a young woman killed on an icy road over the weekend is sparking immediate change for the Minnesota Department of Transportation in a construction zone.

Twenty-four-year-old Megan Hinchliff of St. Michael was killed on Interstate 94 in Rogers on Sunday morning.

Hennepin Co. Organization Doubles Heating Assistance as Community Action of Mpls. Investigated for Fraud

An early winter will force a community organization in Hennepin County to start processing a record number of applications for energy assistance sooner than expected.

"You can hear the stress in people's voices," said Scott Zemke, the Executive Director of Community Action Partnership of Suburban Hennepin.

Some bars and restaurants in Minneapolis are closer to having the option to stay open later than normal when special events are in town.

The community development committee of the Minneapolis City Council approved a proposal allowing businesses to apply for a license to stay open past their legal hours.
