Amid Ebola Fears, Health Experts Remind People to Get Flu Shots

While the Ebola virus has the nation on edge, health experts are reminding people to also think about the flu, which kills thousands of people in the United States each year.

Health experts say October is the best month to get the flu vaccine.

Man Hospitalized in Critical Condition after Mpls. Shooting

A man is in critical condition after a shooting in South Minneapolis overnight.

Minneapolis police were called to the Little Earth of United Tribes on the 2400 block of 18th Avenue South around 2 a.m. Friday on a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds.

The victim was sent to Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition.

The USA Bandy Hall of Fame will induct its first members on Oct. 22 at the Aster Cafe in Minneapolis. The 6 p.m. induction ceremony is open to the public.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office honored a sergeant for making a difference.

The sheriff's office held a community celebration for Sgt. Derwin Ellis, who is retiring, on Thursday.

Ellis is a founding member of the sheriff's office Community Engagement Team.

Hennepin County authorities say they have arrested the suspect in a Brooklyn Center standoff without incident. Daniel Vernier, 32, was arrested around 4:30 p.m. about four hours after the standoff started.
