'Wiener Takes All' Hot Dog-Eating Contest Benefits Local Charities

Today is National Hot Dog Day, and what better way to celebrate than to enjoy a few?

Chris & Rob’s Chicago’s Taste Authority is hosting their annual “Wiener Takes All” Chicago hot dog eating contest Tuesday in Minneapolis. Minneapolis police, St. Paul police and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office will all face off.

Minneapolis Fire Department Graduates Newest Class of Cadets

The Minneapolis Fire Department will graduate its newest class of cadets Friday.

The graduates have all become certified Emergency Medical Technicians and have earned their Minnesota State Firefighter Licenses. During their training, they learned about fire ground operations, hazardous materials, and technical and water rescue techniques.

Hennepin Co. Sheriff Hosts Meeting on Spotting Signs of Sex Trafficking

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office wants help in combating the sex trafficking of minors.

A public meeting will be hosted Thursday. The sheriff is urging the public – and especially hotel workers – to attend the meeting and learn how to spot signs of sex trafficking. Training is provided by the sheriff’s office and the Minnesota Lodging Association.

St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman and Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges on Tuesday discussed what’s being done here at home to improve the lives of young men of color.

The public briefing comes four months after President Barack Obama launched the "My Brother’s Keeper" initiative, which is a mentoring program for at-risk youth without fathers at home.

100 Minnesotans Become US Citizens During Ceremony at MOA
